Arthur Westgarth  Simpson, born 30 Oct 1899 in 7 Alliance Street, Stockton-on-Tees, DUR⁴;Arthur joined the Army Engineers in 1914 and was a Territorial Army Reservist. He worked in the Steel industry in Middlesbrough and at Spennymoor. He moved to Bourn, LINCS as a Reform school master and to Bledlow Ridge, BUCKS as a chicken farmer. He died in Dec 1956 in Aylesbury, Bucks.age 57. He was the son of Arthur Simpson and Louisa Margaret  Mitchell. He married Jane Jarvis at St Paul's, Middlesbrough January 1st, 1925. She was born 24 Nov 1900 in Middlesbrough, YKS, the daughter of John Henry Jarvis and Sarah Davies. Jane died in Slough, Bucks in Apr 1997age 96.

i. Brian  Simpson, born  in Grove Hill, Middlesbrough, YKS; married Patricia Clare Wright 1957 in High Wycombe, Bucks..

Arthur  Simpson, born 16 May 1873 at 21 Airton Street, Stockton on Tees, DUR. He was the son of Thomas Simpson and Jane Leonard. He married Louisa Margaret Mitchell 13 Aug 1898 in Shincliffe, DUR⁹. She was born 17 Jun 1871 at the Saw Mill in Shincliffe, DUR¹⁰; the daughter of William Mitchell and Ann Wheatley. Arthur was a railway engine fitter and steam engine maker living at Webster Street, Alliance Street and Compton Street in Stockton-on-Tees, DUR from 1899-1901

 i. Arthur Westgarth  Simpson, born 30 Oct 1899 in Stockton-on-Tees, DUR; died Dec 1956 in Aylesbury, Bucks; married Jane Jarvis 1 Jan 1925 in Middlesbrough, YKS.

ii. Gertrude Simpson, born 1906, married Harry Watson.

John Henry Jarvis, born in 1860 in West Bromwich STAFFS and died in 1903 in Middlesbrough, YKS.  He was the son of John Jarvis and Lucy Grainger. He married Sarah Davies. She was born 1865 in Wednesbury, STAFFS and died in Middlesbrough, YKS about 1935. John Henry Jarvis was a Steel Roller.

i. Lucy Matilda Jarvis, born 1885 in West Bromwich, STAFFS.

ii. Herbert Jarvis was born in 1886 in West Bromwich, STAFFS

iv. Jane Jarvis, born 24 Nov 1900 in Middlesbrough, YKS; died Apr 1997 in Aylesbury, Bucks; married Arthur Westgarth Simpson About. 1929 in Middlesbrough, YKS.

Generation No.5

Thomas  Simpson¹⁸, was christened 29 Aug 1841 at St Nicholas in Guisborough, YKS¹⁹; He was the son of Alexander  Simpson and Alice Swales. He married Jane Leonard in 1859 in Stockton-on-Tees. She was born 1840 Shotley Bridge, DUR ²⁰; died 1874 - 1880 in Stockton, DUR. She was the daughter of John Leonard, II and Eleanor Westgarth. Thomas was a Foreman Iron Moulder. 

At the time of the 1881 census, Thomas was a widower living on Percy Street in Stockton with his children and his unmarried sister-in-law, Sophia Leonard (Jane's sister). In 1883, they married in Stockton-on-Tees and then had 3 children. Between 1887 and 1894, the family moved from Stockton to East Hartburn where they were were living at 7, The Terrace, in 1901.

iii. Leonard Simpson, born 1871 in Stockton, DUR; He lived in W Hartlepoole in 1901

iv. Ernest Simpson, born 1872. He lived in South Shields in 1901.

v. Arthur  Simpson, born 1874 in Stockton on Tees, DUR; died Aft. 1930 in Stockton, DUR; married Louisa Margaret  Mitchell 13 Aug 1898 in Shincliffe, DUR.

i. Ethel G.  Simpson II, born 1885 in Stockton, DUR; She was a school teacher in 1901 in Stockton.

ii. Bertha J. Simpson, born 1887 in Stockton, DUR; she was a dressmaker in 1901 in Stockton.

iii. Stanley Raymond W. Simpson, born 1894 in East Hartburn, DUR

John Jarvis born 1824 in Tipton, STAFFS; died Aft. 1898 in Stockton on Tees, DUR. He was the son of Thomas Jarvis and Elizabeth Potts. He married Lucy Granger, the daughter of Cornelius Grainger and Phyllis Round. In 1881 the family was living at 258 Great Bridge St., West Bromwich, STAFFS. He was a millwright. John Jarvis and Lucy had the following family:

i. Eliza Jarvis born 1848-1849 in West Bromwich 

ii. John Henry Jarvis born Apr-Jun 1860 in West Bromwich

iii. Herbert Edmund Jarvis

iv. Matilda Jarvis

v. Thomas Jarvis  (These last 3 all christened in Feb 1865 in West Bromwich)

William  Mitchell²¹, born 1832-1833 in Newcastle, NBL²²; William was christened at St Andrew's in 1837. He was the son of Henry  Mitchell and Margaret Patchett. He married Ann WHEATLEY, She was born in Bradbury, DUR and was christened at St Edmund's, Sedgefield in 1833. In 1881 William and Ann were living at 16 High Row, Shincliffe, DUR. He was a sawyer. William and Ann had the following children:

i. James Mitchell, born 1858 in Sunderland, DUR; died Aft. 1881 in Shincliffe, DUR.

ii. William Mitchell II, born 1862.

iii. Robert Mitchell, born 1863; married Martha Williams 5 Aug 1899 in St James Stockton on Tees, DUR²³; born 1863 - 1864 in of Stockton on Tees, DUR.

iv. George Mitchell, born 1867.

v. Annie Mitchell, born 1869.

vi. Louisa Margaret  Mitchell, born 1872 in Shincliffe, DUR married Arthur  Simpson 13 Aug 1898 in Shincliffe, DUR.

vii. John Mitchell, born 1875.

Generation No. 6

Alexander  Simpson, born 1808 in Redcar, YKS; He was christened at St Germaine, Marske in Cleveland, in 1808 and died 1851 - 1881 in Stockton on Tees, DUR. He was the son of Robert Simpson and Mary Breese. He married Alice Swales 15 Nov 1835 at All Saints in Skelton, YKS. She was born 1812 in Skelton, YKS²⁷,  and christened there in Apr 1813. She was the daughter of William Swales and Elizabeth Stephenson⁴⁰. In 1841 Alexander and Alice lived on Church St in Guisborough and in 1851 had moved to Thompson St., Stockton-on-Tees. Alice was a widow by 1881 and lived with her son Alexander and her widowed sister-in-law Mary (Walton) Simpson at Haffron St, Stockton. In 1901, Alice was living with her widowed daughter Catherine (Simpson) Dean at Neasham St., Stockton.

iii. Thomas  Simpson, born 1841 in Guisborough, YKS; died Aft. 1898 in Stockton on Tees, DUR; married Jane Leonard.

iv. Henry Simpson, born 1843 - 1844 in Guisborough, YKS³⁰; living in Stockton on Tees in 1901. He married Mary A ? About. 1869; born 1843 in Redcar, YKS; died Aft. 1881 in Stockton on Tees, DUR.

v. William Simpson, born 1846 - 1847 in Guisborough, YKS; married Emma ? About. 1872; born 1852 in Northallerton, YKS; died Aft. 1881 in Stockton on Tees, DUR.

vi. Alexander Simpson II, born 1850 in Stockton on Tees, DUR³¹; living with his mother in 1881 in Stockton on Tees, DUR³²

John Leonard II, born 1812 in Allendale, NBL died Aft. 1855. He was the son of John Leonard and Sarah Short. He married Eleanor Westgarth,  31 May 1835 in St Thomas, Stanhope, DUR. She was born at Stanhope in 1815-1816; the daughter of John Westgarth and Ann Place. John was a builder.
